Thanks for making the suggestion. “Gentle” would be a great sign to have here. I have not noticed any such omission in the other language versions. First, they argue, it is not enough to show that some children can be expected to hear sentences like Is the girl in the jumping castle Kayley's daughter? To have another language is to possess a second soul. They have lost the mood distinctions other than imperative, but many have since gained new moods through the use of prefixes (most often /bi-/ for indicative vs. unmarked subjunctive).

The ASLU is a great resource for new learners. Large-scale shifts often occur in response to social, economic and political pressures. For example: Hirsh-Pasek, Trieman and Schneiderman (1984) studied interactions between 2 year olds and their parents, and discovered that caregivers repeated and corrected 20.8% of flawed sentences, whereas they only repeated (without correction) 12.0% of well-formed utterances.

Consonants are relatively more difficult to articulate at the ends of syllables. Learning ASL is a fun and rewarding experience.
